For the past fourteen years, Mike Loperfido has called Colorado’s Gunnison Valley home, shaping stone and earth into outdoor spaces that stand up to high‐alpine extremes. His craft was refined on job sites alongside some of the region’s most respected landscape contractors, where he developed a reputation for meticulous workmanship and an eye for balanced, enduring design.
Before trading classrooms for construction sites, Mike spent a decade teaching middle-school science on the Front Range. That background in problem-solving and ecology still informs his work today—every wall, patio, and planting begins with a careful study of site conditions and a respect for natural systems.
Drawn by a desire to live and work closer to the mountains he loves, Mike moved to Crested Butte with his wife and two children in 2011 embracing a life spent largely outdoors. When he’s not guiding the Headwall Hardscapes crew, you’ll find him skiing, mountain-bike clinics, or scouting local quarries for the next project’s perfect boulder.
Mike’s goal is simple: craft landscapes that marry beauty, resilience, and affordability—spaces his neighbors can enjoy for decades, in a valley he’s proud to call home.
